Source Pilates is a private home studio providing personalized one-on-one or two-to-one Pilates sessions by appointment. The studio is a well-appointed, relaxed space with the latest Centerline equipment suite by Balanced Body, a waiting area and private bath for changing. In a supportive and positive environment, the focus is on you and optimizing your wellness and physical fitness utilizing the classical Pilates method created by Joseph Pilates. As you advance in your abilities, your Pilates practice can also advance with more challenging exercises from the classical repertoire that will continue to support your individual needs and goals.
From the time I was a little girl dancing around our living room, movement has been a part of my life. When I wasn’t dancing, I was running or fencing or hiking or playing tennis or just not sitting still... I have explored many different types of movement, studied dance and choreography and taught others to move. It was during my dance training in college that I was first introduced to Pilates. Over the years, I have continued to practice some of the exercises I there learned as part of my regular workouts.
Eventually, I found myself in an office job and a rewarding career in the non-profit sector that lasted for decades. But I still danced and ran for my own enjoyment. I became fascinated with mindfulness, alternative medicine and energy healing practices and trained to become a Reiki healer and a life coach. At one point I became very ill and as a result, learned ALOT about green living, the toxic soup we live in and food as medicine.
Several years ago, I injured myself in a yoga class and was struggling to heal and recover. A dear friend recommended that I make an appointment with a physical therapist she knew who had been a dancer and utilized Pilates in her work.
Things finally clicked - I got better and began to learn about all the many benefits of Pilates. Starting a regular Pilates practice reminded me of how happy I had been in the world of movement and encouraging others to move and enjoy what their bodies can do. I felt the nudge to take a leap of faithm and started a new career.
As the owner of Source Pilates and a PMA® - CPT (Certified Pilates Teacher), I spend my days moving and teaching. I completed my Pilates teacher training with The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado and my internship at InsideOut Body Therapies in Durham under the direction of Mischa Decker, PT, DPT, OCS, PMA®-CPT and Deborah Matthews, PMA®-CPT.
In addition to my private studio for individual instruction, I teach group classes in the Durham - Chapel Hill area at various locations.
